26-Months of Academic Enrichment

The Steppingstone Academy Hartford is an academic enrichment and preparation program with a rigorous multidisciplinary curriculum.  The program consists of classes during three six-week summer sessions as well as two academic year session. Scholars split into two teams to create small classes.  This ensures that all students have a high level of engagement with their teachers and a high level of accountability in the classroom. The program is designed to encourage Scholars to take responsibility for their learning process and helps them to take intellectual risks and challenge the world around them.  Further, The Academy prepares Scholars for the social and cultural transitions they will encounter in high school and college. This new model was developed to maximize the preparation of students starting the summer before their 7th grade school year. Over the course of 2+ years Scholars will pursue an intensive course of study that ensures that they are prepared for the academic rigor of independent school and high school success leading to college enrollment and graduation. In addition to traditional academic coursework, Scholars will develop and run a service learning project focused on the topic of their choosing after exploring the wide variety of potential service projects that can be undertaken in the Hartford area. This multidisciplinary model seeks to develop the next generation of leaders from Hartford.
